MJ Lenderman

Born Mark Jacob Lenderman on 4 February 1999 in Asheville, North Caroline, US indie-rock singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist MJ Lenderman began his career as a drummer for Indigo De Souza before kicking off his solo career in 2019 with his debut self-titled LP. MJ Lenderman draws from his Southern roots, crafting songs that capture the emotional weight of everyday life. His lyrics are often introspective and laced with wit, tackling themes of love, loss, and the mundane beauty of existence. As a member of the band Wednesday, a band he joined in 2020, and a solo artist, MJ Lenderman has cultivated a dedicated following in the indie-rock music scene. His solo work, characterized by lo-fi production and warm, melancholic melodies, has drawn comparisons to the likes of Neil Young and early Wilco. He turned heads with his third album Boat Songs, released in 2022 to critical acclaim, and kept up the momentum with the follow-up And the Wind (Live and Loose!), his first live album released in 2023. In 2024, he ushered in the release of new album Manning Fireworks.
