Aline Piboule

Pianist Aline Piboule has a reputation for unusual programming. She has devised concerts for children, and she has presented concerts with a spoken word component. Piboule is also an educator, serving on the faculty at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris. She has made several recordings, including Gabriel Fauré: Nocturnes et Barcarolles (2024). Piboule grew up in a musical family that included a number of violinists, but she was encouraged by a grandfather to find her own path and chose the piano. She attended the Conservatoire de Lyon (CNSMD), where she graduated with honors in 2006, having already won the Città di Padova competition in Italy the previous year. Piboule went on to the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMD) and to the Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal, where she studied with Jean Saulnier. She also holds a teaching certificate and a degree in vocal and instrumental accompaniment. Piboule made several recordings for the Artalinna label; her first one, Fauré/Dutilleux, was listed by Classica magazine on its "Ideal Piano Discography." Piboule has performed at major halls and festivals across France and beyond, including the Philharmonie de Paris, the Arsenal in Metz, the festival La Roque d'Anthéron, and Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. She also performs chamber music and has made two albums with flutist Jocelyn Aubrun. Especially notable are concerts Piboule has performed with the writer Pascal Quignard, author of the novel Tous les matins du monde; these concerts, dubbed "Récit Récitale," include spoken texts. Piboule also performs concerts for children, developed in coordination with the Jeunesses Musicales de France organization. Her repertory ranges from Chopin to contemporary music. In 2024, Piboule made her debut on the Harmonia Mundi label, releasing the album Gabriel Fauré: Nocturnes et Barcarolles. She is on the chamber music faculty at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris and also gives master classes.
